01Who we are

A risk association for a world in flux

Threats and opportunities in a globalized world are multifaceted, borderless, and indiscriminate. Founded in 2017 as the Global Risk Observatory and returning as an official student-led initiative at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy for 2026–2027, RAMS exists to change the conversation around risk governance — with an emphasis on mitigation, not just diagnosis.

Our approach hinges on the diversity of identity, expertise, and opinion of our members, and we are committed to an inclusive environment for everyone across the MGA and MPP programs.

01

Interdisciplinary by design

We bridge social, scientific, and quantitative modelling — pairing policy fluency with financial rigour to read risk in full context.

02

Industry-connected

Built alongside RBC, the Rotman Risk Management Association, and Munk alumni working in risk across Canada's largest institutions.

03

Student-led, faculty-backed

Run by MGA and MPP students and advised by Dr. Michael Durland, Distinguished Fellow at the Munk School.
